About I La Galigo
I La Galigo is the creation epic of the Bugis people of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. With approximately 300,000 lines of text written in the Bugis script on palm leaves, it is considered the longest literary work in the world — surpassing the Mahabharata.
The epic tells the story of the first humans, descended from the gods of the Upper World, who establish kingdoms on Earth and eventually return to their divine origins.
